Argentina: Court confirms acquittal in case against journalist Daniel Santoro

“The Federal Chamber confirmed the acquittal of Clarín journalist Daniel Santoro in a case where he was accused of participating in extortion, because a source of his asked a businessman for money in exchange for his name not being published in relation to a case of smuggling.

Santoro was accused on similar matters by the federal Justice of Dolores and there, too, the Federal Chamber of Mar del Plata reversed his prosecution. The journalist is the subject of accusations by Kirchner-aligned officials. Santoro works at the Clarín newspaper and produced investigative articles where he exposed corruption schemes that aggravate Kirchnerism."
