Colombia: Prosecutor's Office investigates death threat to editor of La Opinión newspaper

"In her five years at the helm of the daily La Opinión, in Cúcuta [Colombia], editor Estefanía Colmenares had never received death threats, as in the messages she received this Wednesday [Sept. 6].

Through her personal number, Colmenares was warned that 'she was a military target' and that 'her head had a price on it.' These two direct intimidations are an attempt to silence her work and that of the journalists she is in charge of.

Due to these facts, the Attorney General's Office initiated a formal investigation in order to establish who was responsible for threatening the director of the most important regional news outlet in north of the province of Santander."
