"On Feb. 18, members of the newspaper Proclama del Pacífico were intercepted, threatened and forced to suspend distribution of their paper in northern Cauca. The Foundation for Press Freedom (FLIP, for its Spanish initials) condemns and denounces this act, which constitutes a violent act of censorship that restricts the public's right to receive information and demonstrates the extreme risks faced by the press in this region of the country.

The team from the newspaper Proclama del Pacífico was traveling through several municipalities in northern Cauca to deliver their paper. Unknown men confiscated the printed copies, insulted them, and threatened to kill them if they didn't leave. As a result, the journalists decided to suspend deliveries in other municipalities in the region, which constituted an act of violent censorship and restricted the newspaper's journalistic work.

In this edition, the publication reported on judicial, health, and public order issues—all matters of interest to the residents of the municipalities they planned to visit. Furthermore, given the upcoming election, there was an emphasis on political topics and a call for citizens to go to the polls and vote responsibly."
