"Flora Silva, financial manager of elPeriódico, was arrested by members of the Public Prosecutor's Office (MP, by its Spanish acronym) and the Guatemalan National Police on Fri., Aug. 19, after they raided her home [...], local media reported. The arrest was made as part of the different procedures carried out by the MP relating to the case of the owner of the news outlet, José Rubén Zamora.
According to information issued by elPeriódico, Silva was detained inside her house and taken out after 23 hours to be transferred to a local hospital. Her health would be evaluated there since her lawyer said she suffers from hypoglycemia and hypertension.
