Journalists' association warns 20 journalists in 'legal limbo' in Venezuela

"The National Association of Journalists (CNP, for its Spanish initials)—Capital District Chapter—presented its updated assessment of the state of freedom of expression in Venezuela, warning of the consolidation of control mechanisms that stifle professional practice. According to the professional association, the use of the justice system has evolved into a tool of 'silent harassment' aimed at paralyzing journalistic work.

The most pressing institutional concern centers on the situation of 20 journalists and press workers who remain entangled in stagnant judicial proceedings. The CNP denounces that, despite the absence of conclusive evidence to warrant a trial, the State refuses to dismiss these cases, thereby maintaining in force precautionary measures that restrict the mobility and civil rights of these media professionals."
