"Organizations that defend journalism in the Mercosur region released a joint note calling for an end to judicial harassment of journalists investigating corruption. In the statement, the Brazilian Association of Investigative Journalism (Abraji, for its acronym in Portuguese), the Forum of Paraguayan Journalists (FOPEP), The Center for Archives and Access to Public Information in Uruguay (CAinfo) and the Argentine Journalism Forum (FOPEA) point out that different sectors of political power of Brazil, Paraguay, Uruguay and Argentina practice 'a stigmatizing and defamatory discourse against the press.'"
