Journalist survives shooting attack in Acapulco, Mexico

"José González, a journalist from the state of Guerrero, was shot at [on Thursday, June 15] a few minutes after leaving his home. As a result of this aggression, he suffered several wounds in his arms. As a measure to ask for help, he started broadcasting live on social media, where [he can be seen] asking the police and military to help him and take him to a hospital [...].

'This is the way they treat the press here in Guerrero, I'm bleeding to death and the ambulance isn't coming. [Governor] Evelyn Salgado Pineda, I trusted you, I supported you, I was just shot by the mafia here on Ejido Avenue,' [said the journalist during the live stream].

Due to the ambulance's delay, the journalist asked policemen to take him to a hospital onboard a police car, but they told him the ambulance wouldn't take long and that it was better to wait. He also asked elements of the Secretariat of National Defense who were in the area for help, but they also refused to take him to a hospital."
