"The search for the truth, access to justice, comprehensive reparation, and preservation of collective memory are the main lines of action of the initiative 'Tejidos solidarios [Weaving solidarity],' the first national network of relatives of murdered and disappeared journalists in Mexico, presented this Thursday (April 28).

After the unprecedented violence against the press in recent years in Mexico, 13 murders in 2022, according to the organization Reporters Without Borders (RSF), and in the face of impunity in more than 90% of cases and the indifference of authorities, the network seeks answers by doing collective work.

Despite the fact that in the country there are some valuable collectives of families seeking justice, we did not identify that families of journalists were part of these groups and that is where our idea came from,' said the director of the organization Propuesta Cívica, Sara Mendiola, promoter of the initiative."
