"Organizations defending the press and freedom of expression have expressed concern about the detention of independent Cuban journalist Orlidia Barceló Pérez, who is at risk of being deported from Bolivia. They are calling for asylum for the reporter because she has been threatened by Cuban authorities.

According to Red Voces del Sur this Tuesday [Aug. 12], the Cuban journalist is being administratively held at the Viru Viru International Airport.

According to this information, Barceló Pérez traveled to Bolivia with a tourist visa issued by the Bolivian consul in Cuba. However, upon arrival, authorities accused her of carrying a false document and detained her."
