Organizations denounce that collusion between crime and politics silences journalists in Mexico

"The Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ), Reporters Without Borders (RSF) and Free Press Unlimited (FPU) lead this forum, which promotes "popular justice" against the murders of journalists while seeking that governments "be accountable for their actions," according to representatives.

"We have prosecutors working at the service of criminal groups," denounced Sara Mendiola during the first of two days of hearings. She is a lawyer for the organization Propuesta Cívica, that handles the cases of renowned journalists Javier Valdez and Miroslava Brech, murdered in 2017 in Sinaloa (northwest) and Chihuahua (north)."
