Paraguayan journalists denounce censorship through 'misuse' of a law that protects women

"Associations that bring together journalists and photojournalists from Paraguay denounced this Tuesday [Feb. 13] alleged cases of censorship and harassment of those who report acts of corruption by public officials and warned that this is allegedly based on 'misuse' of a law for the protection of women.

Human rights lawyer and spokesperson for the complainants, Alejandra Peralta, explained to EFE that, in at least three cases, journalists were denounced by public officials who obtained protection and restraining measures for alleged violence against women, after they were reported or investigated by journalists.”
