"Under the Daniel Ortega regime, the practice of journalism has become increasingly difficult in Nicaragua. If this was already a difficult profession, now the lack of access to information, the constant harassment, the consummate confiscation of media outlets, the murders of journalists in full exercise of their work, and the trials and sentences of Nicaraguan journalists have made the work an act of resistance.
