Venezuelan authorities seize headquarters of newspaper El Nacional due to lawsuit from Diosdado Cabello

“Members of the Venezuelan National Guard carried out the embargo on ‘all property’ of newspaper El Nacional.

The seizure of assets and the headquarters of the historic Venezuelan newspaper in Caracas is part of the compensation ordered by the Supreme Court of Justice (TSJ, for its acronym in Spanish) for "moral damage" to the senior Chavista leader Diosdado Cabello.

Shortly before, the Venezuelan judiciary had notified newspaper El Nacional of the executive embargo of its headquarters, according to what Cabello himself announced on Twitter and the newspaper confirmed shortly afterwards."

LJR Note: In a previous conversation with LJR, Miguel Henrique Otero, president and editor of El Nacional, said the outlet will take its case to international bodies after receiving a sentence that required compensation.
