"The violence used by 'grupos de choque' [violent groups sent to attack] against journalists, cameramen, photographers and media staff at blocking points during the civic strike in the city of Santa Cruz de la Sierra [Bolivia] was condemned by the National Press Association (ANP, by its acronym in Spanish), which rejected the premeditated actions to affect journalistic work.
The ANP, which represents Bolivia's main print media, denounced that groups supporting the ruling party are acting to clear blocked roads, identify journalists and press teams in order to harass them, prevent them from recording attacks on citizens and attack with uncontrolled violence. During the first day of the civic strike [Oct. 22, 2022], which demands a national census in 2023, two press teams were attacked in the neighborhoods Los Lotes and Sexto Anillo, according to reports from correspondents of the ANP's Monitoring Unit."
