Mexican journalist Adela Navarro denounces intimidation by businessman with armed bodyguards in newsroom

"Journalist Adela Navarro, co-director of Semanario Zeta, filed a complaint with the Attorney General's Office of the State of Baja California (FGE) in Mexico for acts of intimidation that occurred at her offices. The complaint arose after businessman Manuel Cisneros Romero, accompanied by his lawyer and armed bodyguards, visited the media outlet's offices on Friday, Oct. 31, to aggressively demand to meet with her.

Attorney General María Elena Andrade Ramírez described the incident as “an intimidating visit” and noted that the presence of armed men at the media outlet's offices in Tijuana, as well as the attitude of Cisneros Romero, the father of a recently murdered man, were perceived as a threat.

The Baja California State Attorney General's Office pledged to investigate the incident and offered support to Navarro. Organizations such as Article 19 Mexico have requested protective measures for the journalist, alarmed by Cisneros Romero's attitude."
