Brazilian Rep. Márcio Reinaldo Moreira slapped a reporter from the TV program Custe o que Custar (CQC) in the face, the night of Tuesday, May 8, in Brasilia, reported the portal UOL. Reporter Felipe Andreoli, victim of the attack, was interviewing the representative about the proposed constitutional amendment on slave work in Brazil and asked the politician if he didn't think it was unfair for the people to have to wait so long for such proposal to be voted on, according to the news site R7.
The attack happened on the same day that Curitiba's former council president threw reporter Maurício Meirelles' microphone out the window. Like, Meirelles, also from also from the CQC program, Andreoli commented about the attack on his Twitter account: "Today (Tuesday), in the city chamber, thanks to the noble representative Marcio Reinaldo Moreira, I discovered the meaning of a 'slap in society's face...,'" reported the news site Veja.
On May 9, the representative published a story claiming that his reaction to the reporter's question was intuitive, as reported by the newspaper Estado de Minas. In the story, Moreira said that Andreoli offended his honor, dignity, and the whole parliament.
Andreoli reported the incident to the military police and posted on his blog that he would demand any apology from the representative, according to the newspaper Estado de Pernambuco. In an interview with the portal Terra, the reporter questioned if the representative would have treated a reporter from Globo the same way.
