A Colombian activist and journalist said that a "narco-paramilitary" team plans to kill him as soon as possible and will pay $200,000 for it to happen, reported the news agency EFE.
Carlos Lozano, director of the Communist newspaper Voz, and leader of the movement Marcha Patriótica (Patriotic March) and member of the group Colombians for Peace, said that “the threat came from far-right groups, enemies of peace”, and that “this type of act is linked to statements of senior government officials and members of the military leadership,” according to the news outlet Telesur.
Lozano said that the criminal group “Los Urabeños” is behind the plan to kill him, and that the plot also includes the former senator and Human Rights activistPiedad Córdoba (Mercy Cordoba), reported the Radio Santa Fe.
Lozano also said that the accusations that the government made against members of the Marcha Patriótica “are motivating these types of delinquent activities,” said the newspaper La Opinión.
