The state attorney of San Luis Potosí reported the disappearance of Mexican journalist Adela Jazmín Alcaraz, a news television host in the city of Rioverde, according to the AFP news agency.
The reporter has worked for Channel 12 in Rioverde for 10 years and, according to her family, has been missing since Friday, Oct. 26, reported the newspaper Milenio.
State Attorney Miguel Ángel García Covarrubias is investigating whether this is a kidnapping or extorsion while authorities search for the journalist, according to the news agency Notimex.
Last June, another journalist was reported missing in the same state of San Luis Potosí.
To date, 17 Mexican journalists have gone missing without any demands for their rescue from their captors.
Mexico is considered the most dangerous country in the Americas for the press, with 71 journalists killed because of their work during the last 12 years, according to the organization Article 19.
