Two Mexican journalists accused four police officers in the state of Puebla of abusing their authority after they detained the reporters and robbed them, reported the newspaper Milenio.
According to their statements, police intercepted Milenio correspondent Jesse Brena and Gerardo Rojas González, a journalist for the website E-Consulta, on the evening of Saturday, Oct. 20, while they walked along the street in Puebla city, journalist Arturo Alfaro told the website Classes de Periodismo.
Afterwards, the police forced the reporters into a patrol car and detained them. Three hours later, the police left the journalists in an abandoned lot after robbing them of all their cash, a credit card and three cellular phones, according to the news agency Notimex.
Both journalists filed reports with the state Attorney General's Office, reported the newspaper El Universal.
