Television crew threatened at gunpoint in El Salvador after leaving courtroom

Update, 01/24/2013:One of the individuals that allegedly threatened the journalists from Canal 12 has been arrested, said Reporters Without Borders. Marco Antonio Landaverde allegedly pointed his weapon at the Canal 12 news team.

Original: A gunman threatened a television news team in El Salvador on Tuesday, Jan. 22, reported the online newspaper ElSalvador.com

The news station Canal 12 claimed the threats took place after the reporters covered a court hearing for three suspects accused of taking part in a shootout in San Salvador, the capital. According to Canal 12, a car forced the station's vehicle off the road and a gunman told them if they broadcasted images from the courtroom, the camera operators and journalists would be in danger.

The Association of Salvadoran Journalists and Reporters Without Borders denounced the threats against the television reporters and demanded protection for those threatened.
