Journalists attacked with machetes in Northeast Argentina

By Maira Magro

The Forum of Press and Social Communication Workers in the Argentine province of Misiones condemned the aggression and death threats against journalists Daniel Villamea, of the newspaper El Territorio, and Aníbal Romero, of Canal 8, in the city of Oberá, reported Territorio Digital.

The reporters were investigating a complaint about supposed mistreatment of a family living in precarious conditions on a small farm, said Misiones Online, when they were threatened and attacked with machetes and sticks, allegedly by the owner of the premises. Although the reporters only suffered minor bruises, the attackers should be held accountable, according to Linea Capital.
