"Cameraman Paúl León, who was arrested during his coverage of the post-election protests in Venezuela, was released from prison, the National Union of Press Workers of Venezuela (SNTP, for its initials in Spanish) and VPITV, the media outlet where he works, reported this Tuesday [Dec. 24, 2024].
León's case was reported after the Attorney General of Venezuela, Tarek William Saab, said on Monday that there are 956 people with cases linked to the post-election protests whose releases have been approved since President Nicolás Maduro asked the prosecutor's office in November 'review and rectify in case there has been any procedural error' in the arrests that occurred after July 28.

The figure from the prosecutor's office contrasts with that recorded by the human rights organization Foro Penal, which has monitored the situation and until before the weekend had recorded 155 releases."
