Several Argentine journalists were attacked and their equipment stolen, allegedly by the political group Tupac Amaru, founded by Argentine leader Milagro Sala, on Friday, Aug. 3, in the province of Jujuy, reported the newspaper El Litoral.
The attack happened while the reporting team from the program “Periodismo para Todos,” led by Jorge Lanata, worked on an investigation about the neighborhoods built by the Tupac Amaru Organization, said the Association of Argentine Journalistic Entities. The Argentine Journalism Forum also criticized the attack on the Channel 13 team, and demanded immediate action from authorities.
"They told us to turn over our material. They stole what we had recorded and beat the cameraman and assistant," said Rodrigo Alegre, journalistic producer of the program, reported the newspaper La Nación.
Meanwhile, the leader of the organization distanced the group from the attack on the journalists, saying that she didn't believe that those responsible for the crime were members of her organization, reported the newspaper Clarín.
