Dominican journalism union denounces increasing aggression against the press

The Dominican Journalism Guild (CPD) called on the authorities to end the wave of aggression faced by media workers in the Dominican Republic, Listín Diario reports. The CPD says there have been more than 30 incidents against members of the press in 2011.

The statements were made during the organization’s annual assembly, in which more than a hundred journalists nationwide met to discuss press issues and call for more media worker protection.

According to Diario Digital, the other major issue brought up at the assembly was plans to discuss changes to media regulation in the country.
