Judge forces Brazilian soccer team to end boycott against sports reporter

A judge in Curitiba, Brazil, ordered the Atlético Paranaense soccer team to allow journalist Osmar Antônio to do his job, otherwise the team faces a $29,000 fine for each act against the reporter, who works for Banda B, according to UOL Esporte. The decision was published Wednesday, Feb. 29.

Antônio was restricted from doing his job at the team's last game, Feb. 22, when he was prevented from covering the game or conducting interviews with players, explained the news sites Paraná Online and Globo Esporte.

The judge's decision said that the team's boycott against the reporter was an affront to the law that allows freedom of action of journalists, according to the site Futebol Paranaense.
