Police attack Jamaican TV journalist

A cameraman for Jamaican television station CVM was assaulted by police and then temporarily detained for attempting to film an alleged police shooting of a shopkeeper in St. Ann, reported RJR News.

The Press Association of Jamaica issued a statement condemning the actions of the Jamaica Constabulary Force, and calling for a thorough investigation into the attack, which injured the journalist in the hand and damaged his camera equipment, according to Go-Jamaica.

This incident comes on the heels of Jamaican media outlets being blocked from covering the arrest and extradition of alleged drug kingpin Christopher Coke.
