Mexico grants humanitarian visa to Cuban journalists forced by the regime to leave the island

"Cuban journalists Héctor Luis Valdés Cocho and Esteban Rodríguez received a humanitarian visa in Mexico, reported the National Migration Institute (INM) of the Ministry of the Interior on Friday, Feb. 18.

Héctor Luis Valdés Cocho and Esteban Rodríguez were forced to leave Cuba in January, after the regime threatened Rodríguez with imprisonment and prosecution for the peaceful protest on Calle Obispo in April 2021.

Rodríguez and Valdés were left stranded in El Salvador after Nicaragua denied them boarding a plane. After more than 30 hours, they managed to enter El Salvador thanks to the help of that country's government and the requests of NGOs such as Reporters Without Borders, which requested asylum for the journalists."
