"The NGO Colectivo de Derechos Humanos para la Memoria Histórica de Nicaragua on Tuesday called for justice in the killing of Nicaraguan journalist Ángel Gahona, who was shot dead eight years ago while covering protests against the government of Daniel Ortega.
The organization said the journalist was killed 'by agents of the Nicaraguan state, who shot him in the head on April 21, 2018, while he was live-streaming attacks against the civilian population in Bluefields,' in the South Caribbean Autonomous Region.
Gahona was 42 years old and was the director of the news program El Meridiano when he was killed, three days after protests against Ortega’s government erupted, sparking a crisis that left more than 300 people dead, according to international organizations."
