"On April 21, 2022, a group of around 50 demonstrators stood outside the home of journalist Ketty Vela. They protested violently against the manner in which she had reported on a strike organized by patrol members and members of the Defense Front. The event happened in Tocache, a province in the San Martín region, in northeastern Peru. Vela, who has worked for Radio San Juan and TV Cable for 12 years with the news program CP Noticias Tocache, informed IPYS that vandals came at night as far as her house to throw stones, sticks and insults at Vela for having reported on violent acts that took place during the strike. The protesters also complained that Vela has given space to organizations that opposed the call for a protest."
