After an incident in which a public official stated that he was harassed by a journalist, in Panama the debate about the necessity to "create a professional journalism law that not only protect the journalist but certify them legally and academically."
"The Colegio Nacional de Periodistas de Panamá (CONAPE) published a statement in which they manifested their worry 'about the path that some incidents have taken which have been led by social activists, shielding themselves under one of the fundamental pillars of the journalism profession as is the freedom of expression.'"
