Costa Rican authorities identified the body of Mexican journalist Pascual Tarín Ávila, who had been missing since June 14, reported the newspaper La Nación.
The bodies of the Mexican journalist and a Nicaraguan man were found in the luxurious neighborhood of Bello Horizonte de Escazú near the capital, San José, without gunshot or stab wounds. Authorities are still investigating the cause of death, reported the newspaper Milenio.
Tarín was a reporter for the defunct newspaper El Norte de Cananea in the northwestern Mexican state of Sonora. So far, the reporter's family has been unable to explain why Tarín had been in Costa Rica since May 20, 2012, according to Diario de Sonora.
In 2007, the reporter was kidnapped but managed to escape. His captors demanded $100,000 for his release, according to the website La Silla Rota.
