Britain's Rory Peck Trust presented its Martin Adler Prize to freelance news cameraman Arturo Pérez for his distinguished journalistic work in Ciudad Juárez, the epicenter of the violence linked to organized crime in Mexico.
Pérez operates a small news agency and works as a correspondent for Reuters. The award recognizes work conducted in adverse conditions such as Pérez' continuous reporting on the dangerous situation in the border city.
In an interview with BBC Mundo, Pérez says, “in Ciudad Juárez no one's life is ensured [...] especially not we, the journalists and camera persons who are in some wat at the scene."
