"On Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2024, the organization Committee for Freedom of Expression (C-Libre, for its acronym in Spanish) presented its report on the situation of freedom of expression in Honduras.
[...]
The report highlights that between 2023 and 2024, threats, intimidation and/or internet restrictions against the press were the most common types of violence. It also lists 64 media outlets with different editorial lines from different regions of the country, whose members were victims of some type of aggression. Patterns of persecution, criminalization and murder are also highlighted.
It is regrettable, among other issues, as noted in this report, that high levels of impunity persist in the investigations of cases of murder of journalists. Impunity in the evaluation period claimed the lives of five journalists, according to what C-Libre reports. It is important that investigations in these cases advance and show results to discourage violence against the press from the perspective of reparation and non-repetition."
