Argentine journalist brutally attacked

By Liliana Honorato

In Longchamps, located in the province of Buenos Aires, Argentina, a hooded and armed individual attacked a journalist with a belt, robbed his money, and threatened to burn his house down, reported the newspaper La Nueva Provincia.

According to Agencia NOVA, journalist Marcelo Massimini, host of the television program Cono Sur Noticias, also had his hair cut off and excrement rubbed in his face.

After listening to the words of his attacker, the journalist said he was sure the brutal attack was related to his professional work, since he had recently reported about irregularities in a local school on his TV program, reported LaNoticia1.com.

Also, a day before Massimini's attack, journalist Gustavo Rodríguez, from the radio station Ilusiones, was threatened after reporting criticisms against a school counselor in Longchamps,” reported the Association of Argentine journalistic Entities.

The Argentine Journalism Forum condemned the attacks and demanded a thorough investigation.
