An Argentine journalist was censored by the TV channel C5N,when President Cristina Kirchner prohibited the TV channel from letting the journalist participate in a news program, reported Perfil.
A reporter for the opposition newspaper Clarín, Juan Cruz Sanz, was to appear as a political columnist on the program HD Alta Definición on C5N, a TV channel affiliated with President Kirchner's administration, but the directors of the program could not get the president to let the journalist participate on the program, reported Clarín.
Cruz Sanz reported the event on his Twitter account, according to Perfil. “You understand the craziness, right? To negotiate with the President of the Nation if a journalist can or cannot be on a TV program," said the journalist.
In April 2012, the Inter American Press Association (IAPA) accused President Kirchner's administration of being "arbitrary and intolerant" with the country's press and of using official advertising to punish news media outlets that were critical of the government's policies. In May, the U.S. government criticized the Argentine government for restricting press freedom in the country.
