Cameraman wounded in crossfire while covering car accident in Mexico

An unidentified cameraman for a local broadcaster in the northern Mexican state of Durango was filming a May 23 car accident when he was shot three times by gunmen who attacked police responding to the incident, Milenio reports.

According to Yancuic, the attack killed one officer and wounded four others.

The Foundation for Freedom of Expression (FUNDALEX) called for greater collaboration between journalists and the authorities to improve media worker safety in the midst of the increasingly deadly Mexican drug war.
