Haitian journalist shot dead during attempted robbery

Haitian journalist Jean Richard Louis Charles was shot to death on the street in the Haitian capital city of Port-au-PrinceThe Associated Press reports.

Charles, a 29-year-old reporter for Radio Kiskeya, was killed during a suspected robbery attempt in front of a bank, the Caribbean Media Corporation explains. One of the alleged killers was killed by police, but two escaped.

In a statement, Radio Kiskeya expressed its “dismay and deep sadness” at Charles’ death, Voice of America adds.
