AP photojournalist Marco Ugarte was attacked by private security at an outdoor mall in Mexico City while covering an anti-fur protest, Milenio reports.
The protest took place outside the center. According to CEPET, Ugarte was preparing to take some photos when at least two guards covered his lens and began to slap, punch, and throw him to the ground. The attack left the photographer with wounds on his face and body.
Two other photojournalists that tried to intervene were also pushed and beaten by security. Ugarte is pressing charges, and six of the guards have been detained by the police, CEPET adds.
