The Council for the Protection of Children and Adolescents of Venezuela issued an order banning the newspaper Últimas Noticias and other media outlets from reporting on the murder of a 12-year-old boy, according to information published Dec. 9 on the site Clases de Periodismo. The minor was shot to death by classmates at his school in a southeastern neighborhood of Caracas, the capital of Venezuela.
Últimas Notícias complied with the order and removed content related to the killing from its web page. The comments from readers related to the shooting also were censored. "We apologize to our faithful readers," the newspaper wrote on its website.
