Police attempt to burn photographer's car as he covered student protests in Mexico

Mexican journalists denounced police attacks that interfered with their coverage of student protests in the city of Cherán, Michoacán, reported the organization Article 19.

Alan Ortega, photographer for the news agencies Cuatroscuro and Reuters in Michoacán, claimed that police smashed the windshield of his vehicle and tried to set it on fire, as well as steal his equipment, according to the website Aristegui Noticias.

According to a report from Article 19, the majority of attacks on the press in Mexico are by public security forces.
