Suspect arrested for the killing of radio manager in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

Military police arrested a suspect on Tuesday, Jan. 15, for the killing of radio manager Renato Machado in São João da Barra, in the northern part of the state of Rio de Janeiro, reported G1.

According to the website, Gilmar Barreira Ramos Junior was captured on security footage from the radio station and was arrested.

Renato Machado, director of Rádio Barra FM, was gunned down in front of his home on Jan. 9, becoming the first journalist killed in 2013. The motive for the attack is still unknown. The Brazilian Association of Investigative Journalism called for a speedy investigation.
