One of the murderers of Mexican journalist Javier Valdez is sentenced to 32 years

"Finally, more than three years after his arrest, Juan Francisco 'P', el Quillo, received a sentence of 32 years and 3 months in prison, in addition to the payment of reparation for the murder of Javier Valdez Cárdenas, a correspondent for La Jornada in Sinaloa [and co-founder of Ríodoce].


The Special Prosecutor's Office for Crimes committed against Freedom of Expression (FEADLE, for its acronym in Spanish) had requested the maximum penalty for the convicted person, which corresponds to 50 years in prison, but it was not granted."
