Honduran journalist group says armed forces threatening press freedom

“The College of Journalists of Honduras, or CPH for its initials in Spanish, on Thursday reported recent threats against press freedom by the Honduran Armed Forces (FFAA), which the college says are now attempting to intimidate the media.

In a statement, the association described the announcement by FFAA head Roosevelt Hernández to file a complaint against the media outlet Q'hubo TV as "a clear attempt at censorship and an attack on the right to information."

Hernández’s complaint is in response to the outlet's reporting irregularities and poor distribution of electoral materials during recent primary elections.

"Thanks to citizen reports and the work of the media, the country became aware of the serious events that jeopardized democracy," the CPH statement said.
