“Journalist Eduardo Segura, of media outlet Jarocho Informativo, reported that last Friday night [April 11] two men on a motorcycle threw Molotov cocktails at his van in the municipality of Tantoyuca [in the Mexican state of Veracruz].

Segura said that his neighbors helped him to put out the fire and that he lamented this kind of attempt to silence media. […] In a statement released on Saturday, the journalist thanked the State Commission for the Attention and Protection of Journalists (CEAPP, for its initials in Spanish) 'for its prompt and supportive response' to safeguard his integrity and that of his family.
'This support is invaluable for those of us who face risks for exercising our informative work,' he said, while calling for the strengthening of mechanisms for the protection of journalists, especially in contexts of violence and vulnerability.”
