“Venezuelan news outlet El Pitazo said Monday that its website has been offline since Nov. 21 for reasons that remain unknown.
In a statement, the outlet said the company that hosts its site — Contabo — reported all its information stored on the server had been deleted and that it did not know how it happened.
‘We do not rule out that this is the result of an attack that Contabo does not yet want to report or acknowledge. Our history of attacks and the constant requests from digital reputation management firms to delete or modify content about politically exposed individuals lead us to believe that the attack hypothesis is plausible.’
El Pitazo said it’s working with its local technology provider to get to the bottom of the issue. In the meantime, it’s setting up an alternative website and a blog to continue publishing information.”
