"Amidst a new and severe escalation of verbal attacks against journalists and the media, Javier Milei's government today [April 23] barred accredited journalists from accessing the Casa Rosada. In doing so, it restricted the professional work of some 60 journalists who report daily to the official seat of government. The measure could remain in effect until tomorrow, according to official sources."
As confirmed by government sources to LA NACION, the ban applies to all media outlets with journalists working on a daily basis at Balcarce 50. Two reasons were cited: the need to further investigate an alleged Russian infiltration of the press—an inquiry that resulted in journalists from seven media outlets having their access to the press room restricted for over two weeks—and a criminal complaint filed against two journalists from the channel Todo Noticias for alleged illegal espionage, following the broadcast by that outlet of footage showing the hallways and interiors of the Government House.

This is a measure with few precedents. The press room at the Casa Rosada remained open during democratic periods, and even during de facto governments."
