"Journalist Roberto Toledo has been murdered this Monday, Jan. 31 in Zitácuaro, Michoacán. This was confirmed by the editor of the digital news outlet Monitor Michoacán, Armando Linares, for whom the reporter worked.
'Showing the corruption by corrupt governments, corrupt officials and politicians led today to the death of one of our colleagues,' Linares condemned the crime in a statement released on social media.
Toledo, 55, was gunned down as he was leaving his office by three armed individuals who 'shot him in a dastardly way,' said his boss, clearly affected and with a halting voice. This is the fourth reporter killed so far this year in Mexico, the deadliest country in the world for the press, according to the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ)."
