In what the Miami Herald calls a “bold if not brazen move,” Cuban authorities have urged Spain’s government to give $155,000 to a program to counter “daily lies” in European media.

Cuba's foreign ministry urged the Spanish Embassy in Havana last month to officially request the funds from Madrid. But Spain’s foreign ministry is likely to deny the grant be made to the Basque NGO Euskadi-Cuba, which bid for the job, Spain's ABC newspaper reports

On its website, Euskadi-Cuba describes itself as a 21-year-old “association of friendship and political solidarity with Cuba.” Its work reflects unconditional support" to the Cuban Revolution. The NGO is seeking financing for the program called Cubainformación.
