"Journalist Griselda Blanco, who had revealed [alleged] police abuse in the province of Corrientes, was found beaten and hanged, police sources in Argentina reported Sunday [May 21, 2023]. Her ex-partner was arrested Sunday on suspicion of femicide, but the family links the crime to Blanco's revelations. She was 45 years old.

Lautaro Cesani, 25, one of Blanco's sons, [...] said that his mother had received threats after an article about alleged abuse by the Corrientes Police, which the journalist had published on her website, Griselda Blanco Noticias. According to the local newspaper El Litoral, Blanco was 'a critical journalist, very committed to various causes.'

On her Facebook profile, the journalist denounced cases in her community, such as drug dealing and police abuse. The Argentine Federation of Press Workers (FATPREN, by its acronym in Spanish) expressed in a statement its 'deep concern' about the case and warned that 'our colleague had denounced malpractice in a local hospital, and within the political and police powers.'"
