Brazilian state court sentences journalist from influencer case to house arrest

"Judge Andrea Cristina Rodrigues Studer, of the 5th Criminal Court of the District of Florianópolis [Brazil], sentenced journalist Schirlei Alves, author of stories on the case of influencer Mariana Ferrer, published on the Intercept Brasil website, to six months of house arrest.

She also set a fine equivalent to 20 days, quantified at 1/30th of the minimum wage in force at the time of the facts, as well as R$200,000 [US $40,125] in individual reparations to judge Rudson Marcos and the same amount to prosecutor Thiago Carriço, who presided in the case, for a total of R$400,000 [US $82,247]."
